DENTUROD President Criticizes THY: “Denizli is Being Neglected”

Gazi Murat Şen, President of the Denizli Tourist Hoteliers and Operators Association (DENTUROD), has sharply criticized Turkish Airlines (THY) for not providing sufficient flights to Denizli. Şen stated that despite Denizli being one of Turkey’s strongest industrial and export centers, the lack of adequate air transport is negatively impacting the city’s development.

“Denizli is Being Left Behind”

Şen emphasized that the inadequate flights to Çardak Airport are negatively affecting both the industrial and tourism sectors, declaring, “THY’s indifference on this issue is unacceptable.” He warned that if THY does not increase its flights, Denizli’s potential will be compromised, and industrial investments and tourism developments will be hindered.

“Çardak Airport Faces Risk of Becoming Idle”

Şen noted that Denizli’s transportation infrastructure needs to be developed, pointing out that with the completion of the İzmir-Denizli highway, passengers may opt for İzmir, potentially leaving Çardak Airport at risk of becoming idle. He highlighted that increasing flights to Denizli is not only a commercial issue but also a national responsibility.

“Health Tourism Potential is Being Wasted”

Şen also indicated that transportation shortcomings are a major obstacle to health tourism, noting that health centers in areas such as Pamukkale and Karahayıt are not being utilized due to inadequate transport options.

“THY Should Contribute to Denizli’s Economic Development”

Finally, Şen called on THY Chairman Ahmet Bolat to increase flights to Çardak Airport, stating that doing so would greatly benefit both Denizli and the national economy.
