A CRJ-200ER aircraft belonging to Saurya Airlines crashed and caught fire during takeoff from Tribhuvan Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal’s capital. According to local media reports, the aircraft was carrying nineteen people, including crew members.
The Incident and Possible Causes
Witnesses reported that shortly after taking off from the southern end of the runway (towards Koteshwor), the aircraft’s wingtip struck the ground, causing it to lose control. The plane then flipped and immediately caught fire. It crashed into a valley on the eastern side of the runway, between the Buddha Air hangar and the radar station.
The impact caused a massive explosion at the crash site, with initial reports indicating that the fire spread over a large area and rendered the aircraft completely destroyed. Rescue teams that arrived at the scene fought intensively to extinguish the flames.

Rescue teams quickly reached the crash site and began search and rescue operations among the wreckage. Security measures were implemented at the site, and thorough examinations were conducted to determine if there were any survivors.
