SOCAR Türkiye continues to strengthen its transformative role in the Turkish energy market through its energy strategy that manages natural gas and electricity within a single integrated value chain. The expansion of its collaboration with TAV Airports—one of Türkiye’s leading global airport operating brands—into integrated energy management through electricity, natural gas and aggregation activities stands out as one of the most current and tangible field-level reflections of SOCAR Türkiye’s Gas-to-Power vision.
The cooperation, which began in 2020 with electricity supply at Milas–Bodrum Airport, Gazipaşa–Alanya Airport and TAV Airports’ head office locations, was significantly expanded as of 2025 with the inclusion of Ankara Esenboğa Airport and İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport. Within this scope, TAV Airports’ annual electricity demand of approximately 75,000 MWh has begun to be met by SOCAR Türkiye.
A New Phase in the Cooperation: Natural Gas and Integrated Portfolio Management
As of 2026, the strategic cooperation between SOCAR Türkiye and TAV Airports has been taken to a new dimension. The natural gas supply of Ankara Esenboğa Airport facilities has also started to be provided by SOCAR Türkiye. Supported by a fixed-price contract structure, this new phase strengthens security of supply while making significant contributions to TAV Airports’ operational continuity and cost predictability.
With the inclusion of the relevant facilities in SOCAR Türkiye’s aggregation portfolio, not only are electricity and natural gas supplies ensured, but the integrated, effective and efficient management of cogeneration plants also becomes possible. This structure, in which gas and electricity are optimised together, contributes to strengthening system balance and offers a holistic energy solution that increases operational efficiency through a multi-layered portfolio management approach.
SOCAR Türkiye Natural Gas Business Unit President Fuad Ibrahimov made the following remarks regarding the cooperation:
