Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır announced that the SOM-J cruise missile, developed with national capabilities, successfully hit its target during a test conducted with a live warhead.
Test firing successfully completed
Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır made important statements regarding the latest test of the SOM-J cruise missile, developed by TÜBİTAK SAGE operating under TÜBİTAK.
Kacır stated that the missile hit the target with full accuracy during the firing test carried out with a live warhead, emphasizing that the project is progressing successfully.

Will increase strategic deterrence
Drawing attention to the technical capabilities of SOM-J, Kacır stated that the missile will be an effective strike element against critical targets thanks to its low-altitude flight and high maneuverability capabilities.
The developed system is expected to become a significant force multiplier in the field with its high precision and low observability features.
Integration into national platforms continues
Minister Kacır also announced that integration efforts of the SOM-J missile into Türkiye’s domestic and national air platforms are ongoing.
In this context, it was reported that the integration process of the missile into KAAN and KIZILELMA platforms continues without slowing down.

Stands out with advanced technical features
The SOM-J cruise missile is equipped with advanced technologies such as:
- Infrared imaging seeker head
- Automatic target recognition system
- Armor-piercing warhead
- Post-launch control capability
- Network-enabled operational capabilities
It is stated that the missile can be effectively used not only against land targets but also against fixed and moving naval elements.

Also shared on social media
Minister Kacır also shared test footage demonstrating the capabilities of the SOM-J missile on his social media account.
In his statement, Kacır congratulated the engineers and technical teams involved in the project and emphasized that Türkiye’s progress in the defense industry continues with determination.
