Costa Mujeres Marks an Important Chapter for St. Regis

The St. Regis Costa Mujeres Resort in Cancun opened this month just north of the city in the secluded enclave of Costa Mujeres. The new luxury resort lies on a stretch of Caribbean coastline bordered by white sand beaches, protected mangroves and the world’s second-largest barrier reef.

Designed by architectural firm Sordo Madaleno, the property draws from the region’s Maya heritage and the nearby El Meco archaeological site. Intricate stonework, sculptural lighting referencing Ixchel and Itzamna, a grand lobby chandelier and hand-painted murals thread a cultural narrative throughout the interiors.

The resort’s 163 guestrooms and 50 suites—including the Caroline Astor and Presidential Suite—offer private balconies overlooking the Caribbean Sea or the surrounding landscape. The signature St. Regis Butler Service personalizes each stay.

Nine food and beverage outlets anchor a culinary program that pairs local ingredients with global technique. Costa Coral handles all-day dining through a contemporary take on Mexican culinary traditions, while Fish Market spotlights Caribbean-inspired seafood and local catch. Palmare Grill delivers Mexican coastal cuisine beachside, and the rooftop concept Shami fuses Japanese technique with Mexican Caribbean ingredients.

Programming ranges from signature brand rituals—Afternoon Tea and Evening Champagne Sabrage—to sunrise ceremonies and ocean excursions that support coral reef restoration. The St. Regis Spa features a thermal circuit, hydrotherapy, the Iridium Lounge and 16 treatment suites, including two Signature Spa Suites with private jacuzzis. The Sea Salt Spa Treatment draws from Maya healing traditions. An oceanfront infinity pool, a fitness center with Caribbean Sea views and a Kids Club round out the recreational offerings.

For groups and social events, approximately 9,687 sq. ft. of indoor and outdoor space, including the Astor Ballroom, accommodates weddings, corporate functions and milestone gatherings.

“St. Regis has long defined where luxury chooses to be, and Costa Mujeres marks an important next chapter in the brand’s expansion across Mexico,” said Federico Greppi, President of Marriott International, Caribbean and Latin America, in a press statement. “With this opening, we are bringing St. Regis to one of the country’s most sought-after emerging destinations, reinforcing our commitment to growth in the region and the growing appeal of Costa Mujeres as a luxury market.”
