Hong Kong police announced that a passenger on Cathay Pacific flight CX811 was detained on suspicion of attempting to open the aircraft door. The incident reportedly occurred during the 10 December flight from Boston to Hong Kong.
Crew Responded Immediately
In a statement released by Cathay Pacific, the airline reported that the cabin crew responded quickly, confirmed that the door remained securely closed, and brought the situation under control. The airline stated that no passengers or crew were injured and that the aircraft landed safely in Hong Kong on Thursday morning.
Investigation Led by Police
Hong Kong police reported that the passenger accused of attempting to open the door was detained, and that the incident is being investigated by the city’s police unit.
Cathay Pacific emphasised safety in its statement:
“Our cabin crew immediately intervened, verified that the door was securely closed, and promptly reported the incident to the relevant authorities.”
