U.S. aircraft manufacturer Boeing took a major step towards recovery from production disruptions and financial challenges by delivering 60 commercial aircraft in June. This marks a 27% increase compared to the same period last year, signaling renewed stability for the company.
One of the highlights of Boeing’s June deliveries was the handover of eight aircraft to Chinese airlines. This development is seen as a critical milestone, as it marked the first deliveries to China since Beijing imposed a temporary ban in April.
Aircraft Deliveries to China Resume
China’s temporary ban on Boeing aircraft, implemented in April, was a reflection of ongoing trade tensions with Washington. However, after both sides agreed to reduce customs tariffs in May, the ban was lifted, and Boeing resumed aircraft exports to China.
The aircraft delivered to Chinese airlines in June included five 737 MAX jets, one 787 Dreamliner, and two 777 freighters.
737 MAX Deliveries Take the Lead
Of the 60 total deliveries, 42 were Boeing 737 MAX jets. Ten of these were delivered to Southwest Airlines, while the remainder went to various airlines around the world. In Boeing’s wide-body segment, deliveries included nine 787 Dreamliners, four 777 freighters, and five 767s, three of which will be converted into KC-46 aerial refueling tankers for military use.
280 Aircraft Delivered in the First Half of the Year
With the addition of the June figures, Boeing delivered a total of 280 aircraft in the first half of 2025. Of these, 206 were 737 MAX jets. During the same period, Boeing received a total of 116 gross orders: 54 for the 737 MAX and 62 for the 787 Dreamliner. However, this order volume remained below the record levels seen in May.
Airbus Leads with 63 Deliveries
In the June competition, European rival Airbus slightly outpaced Boeing with 63 deliveries. Airbus’s deliveries included eight wide-body aircraft and 43 narrow-body models from the A320 family. This outcome highlighted the ongoing intense global rivalry between the two aviation giants.
