Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport achieved a historic milestone on August 3, 2025. According to a statement by the airport operator HEAŞ, a total of 840 flights were operated and 158,678 passengers were served in a single day. These figures represent the airport’s highest-ever daily flight and passenger numbers.
In the HEAŞ announcement, it was stated, “A new day begins, and the sky gets busier than ever. On that day, Sabiha Gökçen International Airport made history.” The statement highlighted the bustling terminal, the heavy runway traffic, and the dedicated efforts of airport staff as key contributors to this achievement.
The announcement continued, “Thanks to the team spirit of our airport staff and the appreciation of our guests, we reached this great success,” adding, “This is not just a number, but a portrait of pride where effort, punctuality, safety, and hospitality converge.”
A Rise Among Europe’s Busiest Airports
This record once again demonstrated Sabiha Gökçen’s growing position as a major hub in regional aviation and its rapid rise among Europe’s busiest airports. HEAŞ reaffirmed its commitment to the future, stating, “We will continue working for better, and flying higher together.”
