Türkiye has achieved the highest performance in defence and aerospace exports in its history, setting a new milestone. President of the Defence Industry Agency (SSB) Haluk Görgün announced that the sector increased its exports by 30 percent in the January–November 2024 period, reaching 7 billion 445 million dollars.
Emphasising the steady rise of defence industry exports, Görgün said, “Türkiye continues its determined progress in defence and aerospace exports; every month we write a new success story.”
Annual All-Time Record Surpassed in 11 Months
Exports, which stood at 5 billion 733 million dollars in the same period last year, reached 7 billion 445 million dollars this year with a 30 percent increase.
In November alone, exports rose from last year’s 613.7 million dollars to 747 million dollars, marking a 22 percent increase.
Görgün evaluated the momentum achieved throughout the year with the following words:
“With this performance, not only the rise in November but also the strong growth spread throughout the year has carried our sector beyond a historic threshold. The export volume we reached in just 11 months has surpassed all annual statistics to date.”
High Added Value and Global Competitiveness
The sector’s rising export performance has further strengthened Türkiye’s global position in defence and aerospace. During this period, the sector:
- consolidated its steady growth in high value-added products,
- expanded its export volume,
- increased its competitiveness in global markets.
Görgün emphasised that the international cooperation strategies pursued under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan have expanded the export network of the Turkish defence industry, enabling it to reach “not only a specific geography but almost every region of the world.”
SSB’s New-Term Targets
Görgün stated that the Defence Industry Agency is focusing on a new phase in exports and listed the targets as follows:
- Increasing the number of exporting companies,
- Integrating SMEs into global supply chains,
- Establishing a sustainable and high value-added export model.
Görgün concluded his statement as follows:
