The Island Cyprus Project, which aims to reinforce the cultural and transport links between the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and the United Kingdom, was officially presented to the public during a magnificent event held in London. Developed in cooperation with AJet, the project marks the beginning of a diplomatic and cultural milestone through the launch of special London–Ercan flights.
The event took place at one of the capital’s most historic and prestigious venues, the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms. The evening was attended by TRNC Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, Deputy Prime Minister Fikri Ataoğlu, representatives from the fields of diplomacy and aviation, civil society leaders, and numerous journalists.
The “Island Cyprus” project aims to rebuild cultural and emotional bonds between the Turkish Cypriot diaspora and the homeland. The project’s core vision is to enhance Northern Cyprus’s tourism potential, cultural diplomacy power, and global visibility.
The launch night offered guests an unforgettable experience, featuring the unique flavours of traditional Cypriot cuisine, Mediterranean touches, and visual storytelling.
Among the attendees was BrandTO Media Inc. founder and Turkish-British Journalists’ Association Canada Representative Cihan Oguzhan, who stated that his team is carrying out an intensive communication strategy to boost the project’s media visibility.
“This project is not only a practical transport link between London and Ercan; it is also a symbolic reconnection between communities, roots, identity, and a shared future,” Oguzhan remarked, highlighting the emotional aspect of the initiative.
Going forward, the Island Cyprus Project aims to serve as a bridge between people, cultures, and generations, while enhancing Northern Cyprus’s representation on the international stage.
