Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu attended the inaugural ceremony for AJet’s first flight from Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport to Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Uraloğlu stated that the Istanbul-Tuzla flights will strengthen both the relations and trade between the two countries, emphasizing that the friendship between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Turkey will continue indefinitely.
Messages of Friendship on the First Flight
Expressing condolences for those who lost their lives in the recent flood disaster in Tuzla, Uraloğlu reminded that Bosnia and Herzegovina stood by Turkey during difficult times. Referring to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s aid in search and rescue operations following the February 6 earthquakes, Uraloğlu emphasized that the two friendly countries would stand together in both good and bad times.
In his speech, Uraloğlu also addressed the attacks in Gaza, stressing that these inhumane actions must end immediately. He mentioned President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s active role on the international stage regarding this issue. Referring to the historical Srebrenica genocide, he expressed hope that those responsible for the atrocities in Gaza would one day face justice as well.
Expanding Turkey’s Global Flight Network
Welcoming AJet’s launch of flights to Tuzla, Minister Uraloğlu underscored Turkey’s growing presence in aviation. He noted that flights from Turkey reach 347 destinations in 131 countries and that this number would rise to 349 by the end of the year. He added that with the opening of AJet’s new international routes, the flights to Tuzla, a key city in Bosnia and Herzegovina, would further strengthen ties between the two countries.
“A Special Occasion for the First Flight”
Minister Uraloğlu shared an interesting story from the flight. He mentioned that a family on board was traveling to Tuzla for a marriage proposal, saying, “The couple has agreed, and the engagement will take place today. I told them, ‘Hurry up, let’s bring the bride back to Turkey tonight.’ It’s heartwarming to be part of such joyful occasions,” recalling a memorable moment from the first flight.
AJet CEO: “We Have Built a New Bridge Between Two Countries”
AJet CEO Kerem Sarp stated that with this flight, they have built a new bridge between Turkey and Bosnia and Herzegovina. He noted that AJet, with its modern fleet, serves 95 destinations and that the airline has now opened its second route to Bosnia and Herzegovina, offering flights to Tuzla. He added that the Istanbul-Tuzla flights, which will operate once a week, may increase depending on demand.
Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Gratitude
Tuzla Canton Prime Minister Irfan Halilagić expressed his satisfaction with AJet’s launch of flights to Tuzla, stating that this was a great opportunity for the city. He also expressed his pleasure at the strengthening ties with Turkey.
