A technical malfunction at Ankara Esenboğa Airport brought flight operations to a halt for a short time. Due to an AJet passenger aircraft stranded on the runway, four flights were diverted to Konya. Officials announced that the aircraft would return to Ankara after refuelling.
A technical issue on Sunday at Ankara Esenboğa Airport disrupted air traffic in the capital. AJet’s Boeing 737 aircraft, registration TC-JFN, operating the Düsseldorf – Ankara flight, suffered a breakdown on the runway after landing.
Due to flight VF6 being stranded on the runway, the airport’s runway was temporarily closed to air traffic. After the malfunctioning aircraft was quickly removed from the runway, air traffic returned to normal.
4 Flights Diverted to Konya
During the period the runway was out of service, several aircraft scheduled to land at Ankara Esenboğa were diverted to Konya as an alternative airport.
Airline officials announced that the aircraft landing in Konya would gradually return to Ankara after refuelling and technical checks.
Flights Return to Normal, Official Statement Awaited
With the malfunctioning aircraft removed from the runway, flight operations resumed at Esenboğa Airport. While delayed flights are being made up, it has been reported that all flights are currently operating normally through Esenboğa. (HavaSosyalMedya)
