Bangladeshi private airline Air Astra is gearing up to start international flights. The company has issued a request for proposals (RFP) to add A320 and A321 aircraft to its fleet.
Bangladesh-based private airline Air Astra has officially begun preparations to launch international flight operations. In line with this goal, the airline is expanding its fleet. Air Astra made an official announcement yesterday, calling for proposals to purchase three to four Airbus A320 or A321 aircraft.
Announced on Official Website and Social Media
The airline shared the RFP publicly on its official website and social media accounts. The announcement stated that the aircraft acquisitions could be made through dry leasing, operational leasing, or direct purchase.
Only Authorized Companies Can Apply
Air Astra clarified that only legitimate leasing companies or airlines with their own aircraft can participate in the bidding process. Even if brokers or intermediary companies are authorized, they will not be allowed to submit bids.
Nepal and Phuket Are Targeted
In an interview with The Business Standard, Air Astra’s Deputy Director Shakib Hasan Shuvo said, “We are working on launching international flights to Nepal and Phuket. After the aircraft procurement process is completed, we will proceed with these plans.”
Bidding Process Has Started
Interested companies are required to download the Request for Proposal (RFP) documents from the designated link and submit their bids by the final application deadline.
2025 Goal: International Expansion
If the aircraft procurement process progresses as planned, Air Astra aims to begin international flights by 2025. The airline, which began its operations in 2022, currently operates domestic flights to Dhaka, Cox’s Bazar, Chattogram, Saidpur, and Jashore. With the entry into the international market, Air Astra is preparing to enter a new phase of growth.
