Çukurova International Airport has quickly captured attention by reaching its 1 million passenger target within just a few months of its opening. Officially inaugurated on August 10, 2024, the airport began operations on August 11 and celebrated its 1 millionth passenger today. This special milestone was marked with a surprise event and ceremony.
Hale Dilek and Timur İbrahim Şen, arriving from Istanbul to Çukurova International Airport, were the lucky 1 millionth passengers. The couple, who came to the airport to travel to Antakya, was welcomed by KZV Airports with flowers and a specially prepared banner. The celebration was attended by Tarsus District Governor Mehmet Ali Akyüz, KZV Airports Board Member Emre Kozuva, Çukurova International Airport Director Oğuz Oflaz, and several other notable figures.

Speaking at the event, Emre Kozuva, KZV Airports Board Member, congratulated the Şen couple and emphasized that Çukurova International Airport has added value not only to the region but also to Turkey’s aviation sector. Kozuva stated, “Today is significant for regions like Adana, Mersin, and Hatay. In our first year, we welcomed our 1 millionth passenger. Çukurova International Airport, with a capacity of 9 million passengers, has become one of our key gateways to the Middle East and the world.” He also celebrated Republic Day, highlighting that the greatest investment in the future is to uphold the values of the Republic.

Surprised by the warm welcome, Hale Dilek Şen, who was visiting Çukurova International Airport for the first time, said, “I will never forget this day; it has become an unforgettable memory for me.” Her husband, Timur İbrahim Şen, shared that he never imagined experiencing such an event himself, something he had only seen in movies as a child. He noted the airport’s importance for the region, adding, “The fact that the airport holds both international and regional potential is incredibly valuable. Such investments greatly benefit both the regional and national economy.”
A Round-Trip Ticket Gift for the Couple
As part of the celebration, Turkish Airlines gifted the Şen couple with a pair of round-trip tickets for being the 1 millionth passengers.
