The domestically produced jet trainer aircraft HÜRJET, developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ), made history by breaking the sound barrier in its inaugural supersonic flight. Taking off from Mürted Air Base as planned, HÜRJET successfully performed beyond the speed of sound in this milestone flight.
First Supersonic Flight Successfully Completed
Taking off at 9:45 a.m., HÜRJET remained airborne for 38 minutes, completing its test flight successfully. Landing safely at 10:23 a.m., this historic flight stands as a significant indicator of Turkey’s growing capabilities in aviation.
Accompanied by an F-16 in the Sky
A crucial aspect of the test flight was the accompaniment of an F-16 fighter jet. The test, with the support of the F-16, marked an important milestone with the breaking of the sound barrier and the overall success of the mission.
