According to a report by Channel News Asia, the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) carried out an emergency response on Tuesday night (October 15) following a bomb threat targeting Air India Express flight AXB684. Two F-15SG fighter jets were deployed to safely escort the plane after the threat was received.
Singapore’s Defense Minister, Ng Eng Hen, announced on Facebook that an email was received claiming there was a bomb on the flight en route to Singapore. The jets were scrambled to divert the plane away from populated areas. The Air India Express flight landed safely at Changi Airport around 10:04 PM local time, roughly an hour behind schedule.
Minister Ng stated that ground-based air defense systems and Explosive Ordnance Disposal teams were activated in response to the incident. After landing, the plane was handed over to Airport Police for necessary security checks.
The Singapore Police Force (SPF) confirmed that they received the bomb threat alert around 8:25 PM and that the plane landed safely at Changi Airport, with no threats found.
The investigation is ongoing.
