THY Chairman of the Board Murat Şeker shared Turkish Airlines’ global growth strategy and financing targets during his meetings in Washington.

Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board Murat Şeker made important statements regarding Turkish Airlines’ global growth strategy, digital transformation investments, and financing structure during his two-day visit to Washington D.C., the capital of the United States.

During meetings held with the World Bank and US EXIM Bank, Murat Şeker shared THY’s strong position in the highly competitive global aviation sector and the company’s roadmap toward its 2033 targets.

THY’s Global Success Highlighted at the World Bank

On the first day of his program, Şeker attended a special forum organized as part of the 20th anniversary of the World Bank Enterprise Surveys.

Speaking on the same panel with World Bank Chief Economist Indermit Gill, Inter-American Development Bank Chief Economist Laura Alfaro, and European Commission Director Peter Berkowitz, Şeker explained how Turkish Airlines achieved growth on a global scale.

Şeker shared examples of THY’s operational success, investment ecosystem, and digital transformation processes despite the intense competition in the aviation sector.

He also emphasized the role of technological developments in the company’s sustainable growth strategy.

“It Is Special for Me to Be Back at the World Bank”

Murat Şeker stated that returning to the World Bank, where he began his career as a researcher, was personally meaningful for him.

In his statement, Şeker said:

“This program gave me the opportunity to once again be a guest at the World Bank, which I left thirteen years ago, and to reunite with many valued colleagues.”

Şeker also thanked Norman Loayza and Jorge Rodriguez Meza for inviting him to the program.

THY and US EXIM Bank Partnership Continues to Strengthen

On the second day of the program, Murat Şeker met with executives of US EXIM Bank, one of THY’s strategic partners for the past 28 years.

During the meeting with US EXIM Bank Chairman John Jovanovic, Vice President of Transportation David Fiore, and the bank’s team, Şeker evaluated global economic developments and the transformation process within the aviation sector.

Emphasizing that THY continues to maintain its strong financial performance, Şeker also shared the company’s financing strategy for its long-term growth targets.

Financing Strategy Stands Out in the 2033 Targets

Stating that Turkish Airlines remains committed to maintaining its disciplined and diversified financing model, Şeker noted that export credit-supported financing structures play a critical role in achieving the company’s growth objectives.

In his statement, Şeker said:

“We aim to continue strengthening the financial foundation of our growth by supporting our strong access to international financing markets with export credit-guaranteed structures.”

THY management emphasized that despite the challenges in the global aviation sector, the company continues to pursue its sustainable growth strategy with determination.
