Montenegro Visa Requirement Introduced, Turkish Airlines Issues Statement

Montenegro introduces visa requirement for Turkish citizens. Turkish Airlines offers free refunds and ticket changes for Montenegro flights until 31 November.

The Montenegrin government has decided to introduce a temporary visa requirement for Turkish citizens. The new regulation will come into effect as of 30 October 2025.

Accordingly, citizens of the Republic of Türkiye will be required to apply for a visa before travelling to Montenegro. Applications can be submitted through the Embassy of Montenegro in Ankara or the Consulate General in Istanbul.

Convenience from Turkish Airlines: Free Refunds and Ticket Changes

Following the decision, Turkish Airlines (THY) has launched a special practice for passengers who have purchased tickets to Montenegro.

According to THY’s statement, passengers holding Republic of Türkiye passports with flights to Montenegro between 28 October and 31 November 2025 will be entitled to a free refund or change of their tickets.

The statement included the following remarks:

“All our passengers who have purchased tickets for flights to Montenegro may refund their tickets without any deductions if they complete their transactions by 9 November 2025 (inclusive). In addition, passengers who wish to change their travel dates may do so until 15 December 2025 (inclusive) without any fare difference.”

Montenegro Visa Application Requirements and Exemptions

Under the new regulation, the visa-free entry privilege for Turkish citizens has been suspended; however, individuals holding visas from certain countries will be eligible for exemption.

Accordingly:

Holders of valid multiple-entry visas issued by Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Ireland, the United States, the United Kingdom, or Schengen Area countries,

And individuals possessing passports or residence permits valid for at least three months, will be able to enter Montenegro without a visa for stays of up to 30 days.
