China Deploys Fifth Generation Fighter J-20s to Indian Border

China has made an unprecedented military buildup by deploying 15 next-generation fighter jets near the India border. It is claimed that China’s fifth-generation fighter jets, the J-20s, have been stationed in a region 150 kilometers from the Indian border.

According to a report by India’s NDTV channel, based on satellite images, the J-20s have been deployed at the airport in Shigatse, Tibet, which serves both military and civilian purposes.

15 Aircraft Deployed Near the Border

Satellite images dated May 27 provided by the geographical intelligence firm All Source Analysis show six J-20s, eight J-10 fighter jets, and one KJ-500 airborne early warning and control system (AWACS) aircraft parked at the airport, located 150 kilometers from Sikkim, India.

The report highlights that the J-20s, produced by Chengdu Aerospace Corporation (CAC), were also deployed to Tibet in 2020 and 2023. This is the first time such a number of fighter jets have been detected near the Indian border by commercial satellite providers.
