Emirates Airlines’ Boeing 777-300 aircraft, operating a flight from Dubai to Bombay, collided with a flock of flamingos as it approached Bombay Airport. The incident occurred as the aircraft was nearing Runway 27 of Bombay Airport. Despite the collision, the aircraft safely landed and proceeded towards the apron without any major issues.
Subsequent investigations revealed that there were 29 dead flamingos at the collision site, located approximately 3 miles from the threshold of the runway. The next morning, an additional 7 dead flamingos were found.
Emirates Airlines confirmed the involvement of the aircraft in the bird strike incident. They stated that the aircraft landed safely but unfortunately, numerous flamingos were killed. Passengers on the return flight had to stay overnight, and they were flown to Dubai the next day using a replacement aircraft. However, approximately 26 hours after landing, the aircraft is still grounded at Bombay Airport.
