A special event organized through the collaboration of the Consulate General of Greece in Istanbul, Aegean Airlines’ Turkey representative TAL Aviation Group, and the Greek National Tourism Organization was held on Wednesday, April 9, at the historic Sismanoglio Megaro building on Istiklal Avenue. The gathering brought together leading representatives from the tourism industry, members of the press, and content creators.
Strong Tourism Ties Between the Two Countries
In the opening speech, Ambassador Konstantinos Koutras, Consul General of Greece in Istanbul, highlighted the long-standing tourism ties between Turkey and Greece and expressed his gratitude to the attendees for their support.
Maria Rachmanidou, the Greek Tourism Attaché, emphasized her country’s year-round tourism potential and the significant role Aegean Airlines plays in supporting and enhancing that potential.
A Year-Round Destination, Not Just for Summer
In her presentation, Aegean Airlines Country Manager for Turkey, V. Mirey Göldağ, stated that Greece stands out not only for its summer tourism but also for its diverse offerings, including conference tourism, wedding events, wellness retreats, skiing, spa experiences, diving, and sailing.
New Routes Introduced
The event featured announcements of new routes, including the launch of the direct Istanbul-Heraklion flight starting April 8, 2025. Additional routes for the summer season—Rhodes, Santorini, Mykonos, and Izmir-Athens—were also detailed. Furthermore, the Izmir-Thessaloniki route, planned to begin on June 22, was introduced for the first time.
At the end of the night, a raffle was held, and two lucky travel agency representatives won complimentary flight tickets from Aegean Airlines.
