Europe’s third-largest low-cost airline, Wizz Air, has signed a new contract with Havaş for ground handling services in its Türkiye operations. The agreement covers Istanbul, Antalya and Dalaman.
Strategic Change in Wizz Air’s Türkiye Operations
Hungary-based Wizz Air, Europe’s third-largest low-cost airline, has renewed its ground handling agreement for its Türkiye operations and signed a new contract with Havaş.
Previously, ground handling services in Türkiye were provided by Çelebi. Under the new agreement, ground handling for Wizz Air’s expanding operations in Türkiye—primarily in Istanbul, Antalya and Dalaman—will now be carried out by Havaş.
Istanbul, Antalya and Dalaman Operations Entrusted to Havaş
The agreement covers Wizz Air’s main operational points in Türkiye. The airline operates year-round scheduled flights from Istanbul Airport to London Gatwick, London Luton, Iași and Budapest.
In its Antalya operations, Wizz Air operates seasonal flights from:
- Cluj
- Bucharest
- London Gatwick
- London Luton
In addition, the airline operates summer-season flights on the London Gatwick–Dalaman route.
Budapest–Ankara Flights to Launch
As part of its strategy to expand its flight network in Türkiye, Wizz Air will also launch direct Budapest–Ankara flights as of 29 April. With the new route, the airline’s presence in Türkiye will be further strengthened, while the number of destinations served by Havaş will also increase.
Türkiye Market Continues to Grow for Wizz Air
The new ground handling agreement and the addition of new routes highlight the importance Wizz Air places on the Türkiye market, while also being considered a significant step for Havaş in strengthening its partnerships with international low-cost carriers.
