Turkish Airlines (THY) and Air Algérie have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for a strategic partnership that will strengthen aviation ties between the two countries. The new agreement aims for comprehensive cooperation in areas such as code-sharing, cargo, maintenance, and sustainability.
Scope of the Partnership Expands
According to a statement by Turkish Airlines’ Corporate Communications Department, the signed memorandum of understanding envisages expanding the scope of the existing code-sharing agreement, increasing flight connections, and deepening areas of operational cooperation.
Under the agreement, the two airlines will explore joint initiatives in:
- Cargo interline services
- Aircraft leasing and ground operations
- Catering and lounge access
- Maintenance cooperation
Sustainability, environmental projects, and training programmes
The memorandum of understanding was signed at Air Algérie’s headquarters in Algiers by Turkish Airlines CEO Bilal Ekşi and Air Algérie CEO Hamza Benhamouda.
Senior executives from both airlines also attended the ceremony.

Turkish Airlines CEO Bilal Ekşi stated that the agreement would strengthen the long-term relations between the two countries, saying:
“Our ongoing partnership with Air Algérie reflects our commitment to a long-term and sustainable collaboration.
This memorandum is an important step towards further deepening our relations. We are determined to enhance cultural and economic ties between Türkiye and Algeria while offering our guests more benefits and options.”
Air Algérie CEO Hamza Benhamouda expressed his satisfaction with the cooperation process, saying:
“This comprehensive memorandum of understanding will provide both flag carriers with new opportunities and the sharing of expertise.
At the same time, we are greatly honoured to host the Turkish Airlines delegation in Algeria while creating mutual benefits for our organisations and passengers.”
A New Era: A Strong Aviation Bridge Between Türkiye and Algeria
This partnership aims to strengthen air transport, trade, and tourism between Türkiye and Algeria.
With the integration of the two countries’ flight networks, it is planned to enhance connected flight opportunities on both the Europe–Africa route and across the Mediterranean region.
