A Turkish Airlines (THY) Boeing 737 passenger aircraft operating the Istanbul–Tbilisi route was forced to change course and land in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, due to adverse weather conditions in Georgia.
According to information reported by Oxu.Az, the aircraft requested an emergency landing at Heydar Aliyev International Airport. The plane landed safely at 21:06 local time and was securely positioned on the tarmac.
Weather Conditions Prevented Landing in Tbilisi
Due to unfavourable weather conditions in Tbilisi—its intended destination—the aircraft’s captain initiated standard alternative airport procedures and diverted to the nearest safe airport, which was Baku.
