Turkish Airlines is officially launching a new era in its Boeing 737 MAX deliveries after a long break. The newly built Boeing 737-8 MAX passenger aircraft, spotted at Boeing’s facilities in Seattle, USA, is counting down the days to join the Turkish Airlines fleet.
With the Turkish flag displayed on its tail and its fuselage painting completed, the next-generation aircraft stands out as the first Boeing 737 MAX model to be delivered to THY in approximately five years. Accelerating its global growth strategy, THY’s new aircraft is expected to provide significant operational support ahead of the summer season.
THY’s New Boeing 737-8 MAX Appears in Seattle
The new Boeing 737-8 MAX, whose assembly process was completed at Boeing’s production facilities in Washington State, USA, was photographed for the first time by aviation photographers.
The aircraft will be registered in the Turkish civil aviation registry as “TC-LCV.” Following the completion of the painting process, the aircraft is expected to undergo comprehensive flight tests by Boeing’s test crews in the coming days.
After engine performance evaluations, avionics system checks, and safety inspections, the aircraft is expected to perform its delivery flight to Istanbul.
The 5-Year MAX Pause Is Coming to an End

However, deliveries had slowed significantly in recent years due to the global software crisis affecting the Boeing 737 MAX program and ongoing supply chain issues. During this period, THY shifted its narrow-body fleet growth strategy toward the Airbus Neo family.
The TC-LCV aircraft spotted in Seattle will become the first new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft to join the Turkish Airlines fleet in approximately five years.
It Will Strengthen Capacity During the Summer Season
Equipped with next-generation LEAP-1B engines, the Boeing 737-8 MAX provides up to 20% fuel savings compared to previous-generation aircraft. It also offers lower carbon emissions and quieter operations.
THY is reportedly aiming to increase capacity in response to strong summer season demand, particularly on routes across Europe, the Middle East, and Central Asia. The new delivery is expected to improve fleet flexibility in Istanbul-based operations.
THY Expands Its Fleet for 2033 Goals
Turkish Airlines aims to expand its fleet to approximately 850 aircraft by 2033. In line with its global growth strategy, the airline continues negotiations for new deliveries with both Airbus and Boeing, while maintaining its fleet investments in parallel with its expanding flight network.
