Ariana Afghan Airlines and Turkish Airlines (THY) have taken a new strategic step to strengthen air transport connections between the two countries. Following the high-level meeting between Ariana CEO Bakht-ur-Rahman Sharafat and THY CEO Bilal Ekşi, the parties decided to form joint teams to deepen technical and operational cooperation.
Focus of the Meeting: Expanding Connections and Operational Cooperation
According to the statement made by Ariana Afghan Airlines, the meeting addressed topics such as:
- Expansion of the air transport network,
- Improvement of passenger and cargo services,
- Increased exchange of technical and operational expertise.
Ariana CEO Sharafat emphasized THY’s international operational strength, stating that Turkey’s experience will play a critical role in increasing travel, trade, and tourism traffic between Afghanistan and Turkey.
THY to Provide Technical Capacity Support
Turkish Airlines CEO Bilal Ekşi stated that he welcomed Ariana’s recent positive developments and announced that THY would provide support in capacity-building areas such as:
- Technical training,
- Aircraft maintenance,
- Operational improvement programs.
Regional Network to Strengthen with Joint Teams
The parties agreed to establish joint technical and operational teams to advance their cooperation in aviation. This initiative is considered an important step that will strengthen aviation ties between Afghanistan and Turkey and contribute to the development of the regional air transport network.
