In Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic, an Embraer 190 aircraft made an emergency landing due to a technical fault in its landing gear. All seven people on board escaped unharmed.
The incident occurred at 17:20 on Tuesday at Las Américas International Airport, the country’s main gateway. Footage shared by authorities showed the aircraft’s nose tilted down on the runway, with fire crews securing the area.
Airport operator Aerodom stated that the aircraft was not on a commercial flight but conducting a test flight at the time. Thanks to the rapid response of emergency teams, the plane was safely brought down on the runway.
Airline Sky High Dominicana confirmed that only seven technical personnel were on board during the test flight and that the aircraft was already in the process of being retired. The company said, “Thanks to the swift intervention of airport emergency crews and the professionalism of our pilots, the landing was completed safely.”
Aerodom added that an alternative runway at the airport was open and operations continued without disruption.
