A bomb threat was made against Turkish Airlines (THY) flight TK2216, a Boeing 737 aircraft registered TC-JZH, operating on the Istanbul–Adıyaman route. The threat was received as the aircraft was approaching Adıyaman for landing, triggering immediate security protocols.
It has not yet been determined whether the threat originated from Istanbul or Adıyaman, but security forces at Adıyaman Airport acted swiftly. After the aircraft landed, the apron area was cordoned off. Passengers and their luggage underwent thorough checks, and bomb-sniffing dogs were deployed to inspect the aircraft cabin and cargo hold meticulously.
Following comprehensive inspections, the threat was determined to be unfounded. After all security procedures were completed, the return flight TK2217 from Adıyaman to Istanbul was able to depart with an approximate two-hour delay.
This was the second bomb threat Turkish Airlines faced in the past 24 hours. The previous day, a similar threat was made during flight TK2688, a Boeing 737-800 aircraft registered TC-JHT, operating from Istanbul to Batman. That aircraft was also searched after landing, with no irregularities found.
