Scenic Group is expanding its presence in Asia with the launch of a new luxury river cruise in India, deploying Scenic Aura to the Hooghly River beginning in Oct. 2027.
During its inaugural season, running until March 2028, the vessel will carry no more than 44 guests on an all-inclusive journey through West Bengal. The deployment also serves as the foundation for a broader portfolio of integrated river and land experiences spanning North India, South India, Rajasthan and Sri Lanka.
The itineraries feature Scenic’s signature Scenic Enrich and Scenic Freechoice experiences, giving guests access to immersive cultural encounters throughout the region.
New River Cruise and Land Journey Collection
Scenic’s new program features five itineraries ranging from 17 to 25 days. Each itinerary is built around a 9-night cruise along the Hooghly River, a distributary of the Ganges that flows through eastern India’s regions.
“The introduction of Scenic Aura on India’s Hooghly River is a significant milestone for Scenic Group with the collection developed entirely around what our guests are asking for,” said Adam Burke, Scenic Journey Designer, in a press announcement. “These itineraries have been thoughtfully designed to provide unique and exclusive experiences that are culturally rich and showcase the best of India and Sri Lanka, all delivered with the depth of inclusions and personalized service Scenic is known for.”
Scenic Aura Refresh & Asia Expansion
Ahead of its India debut, Scenic Aura will undergo a redesign led by Scenic Group’s yacht design partner, MKM Yachts. Once relaunched, the vessel will offer spacious suites featuring private balconies, separate sleeping areas and Scenic Sun Lounges. Guests will also have access to multiple dining venues, premium beverages, WiFi, wellness facilities, a resort-style pool and fitness programming.
The India launch is one component of Scenic Group’s larger expansion strategy across Asia.
Additional developments planned for 2028 include the debut of Scenic Spirit II on the Mekong River, the return of Scenic Eclipse II to Asia and Oceania and the arrival of Emerald Xara in the region.
