Malaysia-based long-haul low-cost carrier AirAsia X will begin direct flights from Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport to Kuala Lumpur as of 14 November 2025. Planned with four weekly frequencies, these flights will allow travelers to reach popular Far East destinations from Istanbul with a single connection.
Malaysia-based long-haul low-cost carrier AirAsia X is commencing operations at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport (ISG) as the airport’s newest international airline.
According to the official social media account of Sabiha Gökçen Airport, Kuala Lumpur flights will start on 14 November 2025, with four weekly frequencies.
The announcement included the following statement:
“Starting from 14 November 2025, Kuala Lumpur flights will operate four times a week, allowing travelers to reach popular destinations such as Jakarta, Bali, Singapore, Bangkok, Phuket, and Tokyo via Malaysia.”
Global Partnership Announced in Hong Kong
Sabiha Gökçen Airport announced its strategic partnership with AirAsia X at the Routes World event held in Hong Kong. At the event, a cooperation agreement was signed between Kerem Maybek, Strategic Planning and Treasury Director at Sabiha Gökçen Airport, and Michael Simionescu, AirAsia Business Development Partnership Manager.
With this agreement, Istanbul has gained a new long-haul route extending to the Asia-Pacific region.
AirAsia X’s Kuala Lumpur flights will provide an important connection between Turkey and the Far East. With the new services, passengers will be able to reach popular destinations such as Jakarta, Bali, Singapore, Bangkok, Phuket, and Tokyo via Malaysia at affordable prices.
Officials at Sabiha Gökçen Airport emphasized that this route will strengthen Istanbul’s international connectivity and give a new boost to the tourism and trade potential in the Asian market.
