President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan highlighted the air traffic between Turkey and Malaysia, emphasizing the need to increase the number of flights between the two countries. Pointing to the importance of the rising number of Malaysian tourists among the 62 million visitors to Turkey in 2024, Erdoğan underlined the role of Turkish Airlines (THY) and Malaysia Airlines in this process.

In his statement, President Erdoğan said:

“The interest of my Malaysian brothers and sisters in our country, which hosted over 62 million tourists in 2024, should be further encouraged. I especially wanted to highlight the contributions of Turkish Airlines and Malaysia Airlines, which enabled us to welcome nearly 100,000 Malaysian visitors last year. I am confident that increasing the number of reciprocal flights in the coming periods will have a multiplier effect on our human relations.”

Strengthening Human Relations Between Malaysia and Turkey

Erdoğan stressed that tourism and transportation play a key role in strengthening the friendly ties between the two countries. He stated that increasing mutual flights would not only benefit tourism but also positively impact trade and cultural relations.

The increase in the number of tourists visiting Turkey in 2024 once again demonstrated the country’s strength in tourism. Meanwhile, it was noted that new cooperation steps would be taken to attract more visitors from countries like Malaysia.

Highlighting the strategic role of Turkish Airlines and Malaysia Airlines in this process, Erdoğan stated that increasing reciprocal flights would further strengthen the bonds between the two nations.
