Plane Crash and Fire at Montana’s Kalispell City Airport

On Monday, at Kalispell City Airport in the state of Montana, a small aircraft attempting to land collided with another parked aircraft, sparking a major fire. Fortunately, no serious injuries occurred.

According to information obtained by the Associated Press from Kalispell Police Chief Jordan Venezio and officials from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the single-engine Socata TBM 700 turboprop struck a parked aircraft at around 2:00 p.m. while attempting to land at Kalispell City Airport. The fire that followed spread to a nearby grassy area but was quickly brought under control by Kalispell Fire Department crews.

Kalispell Fire Chief Jay Hagen stated that the landing aircraft caught fire, but the pilot and three passengers managed to evacuate on their own. Two passengers sustained minor injuries and were treated by airport medical staff.

The FAA and local authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
