Ercan Airport, the main gateway of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) to the world, recorded a remarkable rise in both passenger and aircraft traffic during the first four months of 2025. According to a statement by T&T Airport Management, passenger numbers increased by 18.87 percent and aircraft traffic by 21.77 percent compared to the same period last year.
Ercan Strengthens Its Position as Cyprus’s Busiest Airport
As the largest airport on the island of Cyprus in terms of area, Ercan stands out as a 24/7 transportation hub with its modern infrastructure, comfortable facilities, and uninterrupted service approach. It is now more than just a transit point—it also serves as an international showcase for the TRNC.
1.65 Million Passengers Between January and April
While 1,385,516 passengers used Ercan Airport between January and April 2024, this figure rose to 1,647,027 during the same period in 2025. A similar increase was seen in the number of flights: from 9,121 take-offs and landings in the first four months of 2024 to 11,107 in 2025.

Officials from T&T Airport Management stated that the increase in passenger and flight traffic reflects Ercan Airport’s growing capacity, its customer satisfaction-oriented service approach, and the growing interest in TRNC tourism. They emphasised that their goal is not only to grow in quantity but also to build a stronger and more qualitative airport structure.
