Lost Control After Landing
The incident occurred at around 20:55 on Friday evening, March 20. The Dash 8-100 passenger aircraft, operated by Aircraft Leasing Services (ALS), which had taken off from Kisumu, overran the runway shortly after landing at Wilson Airport.
In footage shared by eyewitnesses, the aircraft was seen stationary on the runway, while emergency teams were rapidly dispatched to the scene.
Passengers Evacuated
First response teams reached the aircraft immediately after the incident and evacuated the passengers. The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) announced that all 34 passengers and 5 crew members on board were rescued safely.
Authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported in the incident.
Official Statements Followed One After Another
In a statement by KAA, it was noted that the aircraft overran the runway after landing, stating: “All passengers and crew are safe. Airport operations continue as normal.”
It was also confirmed that the aircraft was operated by ALS on behalf of Safarilink Aviation. The company stated that necessary support services were provided to the passengers.

Wilson Airport is known as one of the busiest hubs for domestic flights in East Africa. A significant portion of flights to safari destinations are operated from here.
