Turkish Airlines has expanded its codeshare agreement with EGYPTAIR. The Cairo–Kano and Cairo–Sharjah routes came into effect as of January 2026.

Turkish Airlines (THY) continues to strengthen its strategic partnerships. At the beginning of the month, THY expanded its codeshare agreement with EGYPTAIR, growing its network to include EGYPTAIR’s new destinations in the United Arab Emirates and Nigeria.

New Codeshare Flights Begin in January 2026

The new codeshare routes designated under the expanded agreement came into effect from early January 2026. This will enable Turkish Airlines passengers to reach key destinations in the Middle East and Africa with broader connectivity options.

New EGYPTAIR Routes Operated by THY

Under the codeshare agreement, the new routes to be operated by Turkish Airlines and carrying the EGYPTAIR code have been announced as follows:

  • Cairo – Kano (Nigeria)
  • Cairo – Sharjah (United Arab Emirates)

Africa and Middle East Connections Are Strengthening

With the launch of the new routes, the cooperation between Turkish Airlines and EGYPTAIR is strengthening connections particularly in Africa and the Gulf region. The agreement is expected to offer passengers more flexible travel planning, increased frequency advantages, and access to more destinations with a single ticket.

According to aviation reports, the expanded codeshare agreement will enhance the regional competitiveness of both airlines while also making a positive contribution to transfer traffic via the Istanbul and Cairo hubs.
