KIZILELMA Takes Off with MURAD Radar: Türkiye Reaches a New Milestone

Baykar’s national unmanned fighter aircraft KIZILELMA successfully completed the AESA radar test flight of ASELSAN’s MURAD 100-A. The indigenous radar technology is poised to play a game-changing role in modern aerial warfare.

Türkiye’s national unmanned fighter aircraft, Bayraktar KIZILELMA, has successfully completed the performance test flight of the MURAD 100-A AESA (Active Electronically Scanned Array) radar developed by ASELSAN. This significant step once again demonstrates Türkiye’s advanced level of achievement in indigenous radar and defence technologies.

Baykar Chairman of the Board Selçuk Bayraktar shared footage from the test flight with the public via his social media account.

Developed by ASELSAN, the MURAD 100-A offers agile electronic beam steering capability thanks to its advanced AESA architecture. Designed as a multifunctional fire control radar, the system can simultaneously manage air-to-air and air-to-ground engagements. Additionally, with its BVR (Beyond Visual Range) missile guidance capability, it aims to create a game-changing impact in modern aerial warfare.

The radar provides superior detection and tracking performance with its wide frequency band and electronic beam steering features, while its GaN (Gallium Nitride)-based power amplifier technology delivers high energy efficiency. Thanks to its digital beamforming capability, the system can track multiple targets simultaneously with high precision, and with its graceful degradation feature, it can continue to operate reliably even in the event of possible malfunctions.

This advanced radar technology enhances KIZILELMA’s sensor fusion capability, taking the platform’s situational awareness in both air-to-air and air-to-ground missions to the highest level. ASELSAN’s MURAD 100-A opens the doors to a new era in Türkiye’s national fighter aircraft ecosystem through indigenous solutions in electronic warfare and radar technologies.
