Turkish Airlines (THY) has announced a comprehensive projection to strengthen its cockpit crew in line with its growth plan to expand its fleet to over 820 aircraft by 2033. During this growth period covering 2026–2036, a total of 5,698 new cockpit personnel are expected to join the staff.
Pilot Recruitment to Start in 2026
THY will begin its recruitment process in 2026 with the hiring of 460 pilots to strengthen its cockpit crew. The recruitment will continue gradually with an annual increase and reach a peak of 688 pilots per year by 2030. During this period, while the airline’s cockpit crew grows rapidly, an annual average of 500–550 pilot recruitments is planned between 2030 and 2033.
Training and Development Processes Entrusted to THY Flight Academy
During this intense growth phase, Turkish Airlines’ strategic priority will be the efficient management of training and development processes. The company will conduct most of its training through cadet programmes carried out by its in-house THY Flight Academy. These programmes form an important platform for training the pilots of the future and meeting the airline’s growing needs.
