A passenger who shared moments of smoking on an AJet aircraft via their social media account was placed on the airline’s blacklist for one year. It was also reported that an administrative fine of 24,681 TL could be imposed on the individual for smoking inside the aircraft.

Smoked on the Plane, Shared the Footage Himself

The incident occurred on an aircraft belonging to AJet. An unidentified passenger recorded himself smoking in the aircraft cabin during the flight with a mobile phone camera and shared the footage on his social media account. The images quickly spread, triggering strong public reaction.

AJet management issued a statement regarding the incident. The statement emphasized that behaviours endangering flight safety and passenger health are absolutely unacceptable and announced that the passenger in question had been blacklisted for one year.

According to current regulations published by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (SHGM), the penalty for smoking or using electronic cigarettes inside an aircraft is 24,681 TL. Authorities reminded that behaviour contrary to cabin rules during a flight may result in both administrative fines and flight bans.
