The Turkish defence and aerospace industry made a strong start to 2026, achieving exports worth $555.3 million in the first month of the year. The sector’s January exports drew attention with a 44.2 per cent increase compared to the same period last year, signalling remarkable growth.
“Our Global Competitive Strength Has Been Reaffirmed Once Again”
President of Defence Industries Prof. Dr Haluk Görgün shared his assessment of the January export figures via his social media account. Görgün emphasised the global competitiveness of the Turkish defence and aerospace industry and its capacity for sustainable growth.
In his statement, Görgün said:
“Our defence and aerospace industry achieved exports of $555.3 million in January 2026, recording an increase of 44.2 per cent compared to the same period last year. This strong performance has once again demonstrated our sector’s competitive strength in global markets and its capacity for sustainable growth.”
High Technology and Long-Term Partnerships Played a Key Role
It was stated that the export success achieved is a concrete reflection of a product portfolio based on high value-added and advanced technology, systems proven in the field, and trust-based long-term international partnerships. With this performance, the defence and aerospace industry continued to make a strategic contribution to Türkiye’s overall exports.
Emphasis on the National Technology Initiative
Prof. Dr Haluk Görgün stated that this success is the result of planned, consistent and visionary policies implemented within the scope of the National Technology Initiative and the National Competence Initiative, carried out in line with the leadership and vision of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Görgün concluded his remarks with the following words:
