Breeze Airways plans to launch 19 new and returning routes between July 1 and 3, which is a considerable number for any airline to start in very little time. They contribute to the fast-growing carrier operating 353 routes in the first week of next month, of which 346 are domestic and six are international.
The airline is renowned for brand-new markets that have never had nonstop service or those that were previously flown by another carrier. Along with its focus on leisure travelers and usually small to medium-sized cities at one or both ends of a route, this mainly explains its low average frequency of two flights a week.
These 19 Routes Will Begin Between July 1 and 3
The 19 airport pairs were identified by using OAG data to examine Breeze’s entire network from January 1, 2025, to June 29, 2026. The findings were then compared to what is scheduled to operate between July 1 and 3. 17 of the routes are brand-new to Breeze’s map, while two were served before. They are shown on the following interactive map.
Seven of the routes will have head-to-head competition with at least one other carrier at the airport level. This includes Tampa International Airport (TPA) to Punta Cana, although Frontier Airlines pulls out in August. 63% of the 19 upcoming routes won’t have direct competition at the airport level. While probably a smaller proportion than normal, it is nonetheless notable.
Several of the markets have had nonstop flights before, including by the now-defunct Spirit Airlines. It is critically important that airlines keep full abreast of market changes to help identify potential opportunities. That’s why Breeze is entering some of the markets, such as Orlando International Airport (MCO) and TPA to Atlantic City, which was part of Spirit’s network until earlier this year. Spirit also operated some of the other 19 routes this year, including Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) to Charleston International Airport (CHS) and TPA.
Most of the airport pairs are either currently served or have had nonstop flights in the past, whether recently or not. For example, Raleigh–Durham International Airport (RDU) to Birmingham was last served in 2008 by Expressjet. Meanwhile, Delta Connection flew from Cincinnati Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) to Greenville-Spartanburg until 2013. Cincinnati was once a Delta hub.
Brand-new routes, which have not had nonstop flights before, are particularly noteworthy. Some make my weekly new routes article (see last week’s edition). Four of the 19 additions are brand-new: Akron-Canton to Portland, Maine; FLL to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton; FLL to Salisbury; and RDU to Tallahassee Regional Airport (TLH). The US Department of Transportation (DOT) shows that not even American Airlines served the route to Florida’s capital when RDU was a hub.
Notice Akron-Canton to Portland. Unsurprisingly, the DOT shows that the demand for this market is nearly non-existent. Only 800 round-trip passengers traveled indirectly in the 12 months to March 2026. But that misses the point. Breeze serves Akron-Canton as an alternative to Cleveland, which is located about an hour away. The existing market had 13,500 passengers. It has been unserved since United Airlines’ time-limited operation in 2021. Before that, it was served by Continental and then United from the then-Cleveland hub. Regular flights ended in 2013.

Two Airports Join Breeze’s Map On July 2 and 3
On July 2, Breeze will begin flying to TLH for the first time. Two routes will be available: FLL and RDU. The intrastate link from FLL was last served by the now-defunct Silver Airways until June 2025. JetBlue operated until October 2024. Breeze will have the market to itself.
In 2024, 94,700 passengers traveled, which reduced to 39,500 in 2025. Between July 2025 and March 2026, when no nonstop flights were available, 6,300 passengers flew indirectly, mainly via Atlanta and Charlotte. Between July 2024 and March 2026, when JetBlue and Silver operated, 67,800 passengers were transported. No wonder Breeze is keen.
On July 3, Breeze will arrive in Birmingham. While Alabama has been part of the airline’s network since 2021, this has concerned Huntsville and Mobile (2024-2025 only). Now Birmingham and Huntsville will be served.
