Following the loss of radar contact with a Falcon 50 type business jet that took off from Ankara Esenboğa Airport, it was officially confirmed that the aircraft had crashed. After the incident, Ankara airspace was temporarily closed to flights, and search and rescue teams reached the wreckage of the aircraft in the rural area of Haymana district.
The first confirmation regarding the accident was shared with the public by Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya.
Statement from Interior Minister Yerlikaya
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya used the following statements in his official announcement:
“The wreckage of the aircraft that took off from Ankara Esenboğa Airport bound for Tripoli has been reached by our Gendarmerie, 2 kilometres south of Kesikkavak Village in Haymana district.
The public will be informed of developments.”
Identities of the Libyan Delegation Clarified
According to information obtained from Libyan sources, Libyan Minister of Political Affairs Valid El-Lafi announced the names of those on board the aircraft involved in the accident. Accordingly, the following individuals were on the Falcon 50 business jet:
- Libyan Chief of General Staff, General Mohamed Ali Ahmed Al-Haddad
- His adviser, Mohamed El-Esawi
- General El-Fayturi Gribel
- General Mohamed Cemmah
- Mohamed El-Macub, accompanying the delegation
Search and Rescue and Investigation Ongoing
Following the crash, security measures in the region were increased, while search and rescue teams and relevant institutions continue their work around the wreckage. An official investigation has been launched regarding the cause of the crash, the condition of the passengers, and technical details.
