Airspace of Ben Gurion Airport Shut Following Missile Launched from Yemen

Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport, under occupation, temporarily closed its airspace after detecting a missile launched from Yemen. The incident occurred immediately after the Ansarullah movement carried out a military operation against Israel using four unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

Impact on Airspace and Flights

According to Zionist Channel 12, Ben Gurion Airport’s airspace was closed following the missile detection. The report noted that a Delta Airlines flight departing from New York had to hold in the air due to the closure.

Missile and UAV Operations

Yemen Armed Forces spokesperson Yahya Seri announced that four operations targeted various sites in Israel:

The General Staff building was struck with a Samad-4 type UAV

Hadera power plant, Ben Gurion Airport, and Ashdod Port were targeted by other UAVs

The MSC Aby ship in the northern Red Sea was hit with two UAVs and a cruise missile

Seri emphasized that the operations were conducted in support and solidarity with oppressed brothers in Gaza and highlighted that the occupation continues to abandon the Palestinian people.

Israeli Home Front Measures

Yedioth Ahronoth reported that Yemen’s missiles landed in central areas of Israel, but no injuries were reported. The Israeli Home Front Command announced that sirens were sounded nationwide after the missile detection.

Humanitarian Crisis in Gaza

Yemen’s operations are a response to US-backed Israeli attacks. Since October 7, 2023, Gaza has recorded 63,633 fatalities, 160,914 injuries, over 9,000 missing persons, and hundreds of thousands displaced. The number of deaths due to starvation is reported as 361.
