Uzbekistan’s flag carrier, Uzbekistan Airways, will begin scheduled flights from the city of Andijan to Istanbul Airport starting October 27, 2025. The new route will strengthen the transportation network between the two countries while providing a new boost to passenger traffic from Central Asia to Türkiye.
It was announced that flights will operate twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays. With this addition, the number of cities from which Uzbekistan Airways operates direct flights to Istanbul will rise to five.
Currently, the airline offers direct flights to Istanbul from Tashkent, Bukhara, Samarkand, and Urgench. With the launch of the new Andijan route, the company is reported to be discontinuing its Fergana route.
Andijan: Uzbekistan’s Emerging Regional Hub
Andijan Airport holds a strategic position in the Fergana Valley in eastern Uzbekistan. The airport is already connected with major hubs such as Saint Petersburg, Moscow (Vnukovo), Novosibirsk, Irkutsk, and Tashkent through regular flights.
The new Istanbul route will provide the local population with direct connections for both business and tourism purposes. Additionally, an increase is expected in trade, education, and cultural interaction traffic with Türkiye.
Growing Air Traffic Between the Two Countries
Air traffic between Türkiye and Uzbekistan has been steadily increasing in recent years. With the new destination, the number of weekly flights operating between the two countries is expected to rise significantly.
Experts believe this development will encourage mutual investments in both the aviation and tourism sectors.
