AmaWaterways Expands Danube Fleet With Launch of AmaRudi

AmaWaterways has unveiled the first details and renderings of AmaRudi, its newest river ship set to debut on the Danube in spring 2027.

The launch builds on the success of AmaMagna. Like its sister ship, AmaRudi will rank among the largest river cruise vessels in Europe, yet will carry just 196 guests across 98 staterooms and suites.

The new ship is also the first in AmaWaterways’ history to be named after a man, honoring co-founder Rudi Schreiner. Born near Austria’s Danube River, Schreiner grew up along the waterways that continue to inspire the brand’s innovation in river cruising.

Designed with a contemporary aesthetic and subtle design references to the cities and cultures along the Danube, AmaRudi will introduce new onboard concepts while expanding the signature features introduced with AmaMagna.

Elevated Dining Across Multiple Venues

Dining will remain a defining feature of the AmaRudi experience, with multiple venues offering a wide range of culinary options. Guests can choose from The Journey’s Restaurant, The Chef’s Table specialty dining venue, al fresco options and Rudi’s Wine Bar—a social space inspired by Schreiner’s appreciation for European wine culture.

AmaWaterways’ signature inclusions will continue onboard, including complimentary beer, soft drinks and a curated selection of more than 30 wines served during lunch and dinner. The Chef’s Table will also debut new Italian lunch menus, while the Sun Deck will feature a built-in barbecue concept at the Deck Club.

Wellness & Entertainment

AmaRudi will expand the line’s wellness offerings with a dedicated spa and wellness area that includes massage treatment rooms, hair and nail services, and a state-of-the-art fitness center. Wellness Hosts will guide guests through both onboard and shore-side fitness programming.

Active travelers will also find a full-sized pickleball court on the Sun Deck, adding another recreational option while cruising the Danube.

The ship will introduce an entirely new entertainment venue concept designed as a social hub. The multi-purpose space will include a cinema, karaoke, billiards and a jukebox, with enhanced soundproofing throughout to ensure a comfortable onboard environment for all guests.

Sustainability will remain central to AmaWaterways’ ship design. AmaRudi will feature advanced Stage V engines, solar panels, shore power connectivity, spud pole technology and lightweight construction materials to improve efficiency and reduce environmental impact along Europe’s waterways.

AmaRudi is scheduled to begin sailing Danube River itineraries in spring 2027, operating select of AmaWaterways’ most popular routes. Additional details on accommodations, onboard experiences and booking availability will be released in the coming months.
