A First in Türkiye: İGA Launches Wi-Fi 7 Transformation Across 5,000 Access Points

İGA Istanbul Airport is upgrading more than 5,000 access points to Wi-Fi 7 technology. The new infrastructure is expected to become fully operational by the end of the year.

İGA Istanbul Airport announced that it has launched its Wi-Fi 7 transformation by expanding its digital infrastructure investments.

As Türkiye’s first aviation hub to offer a 5G experience, İGA is now preparing to upgrade its network infrastructure — which previously started with Wi-Fi 5 and was strengthened with Wi-Fi 6 — to next-generation Wi-Fi 7 technology.

More Than 5,000 Access Points Being Modernized

In a statement released by İGA, it was noted that more than 5,000 access points are being modernized as part of the transformation process to support the new technology.

The new infrastructure is aimed at delivering higher performance during heavy passenger traffic within the terminal.

Faster and More Stable Internet Experience

With Wi-Fi 7 technology, passengers are expected to benefit from:

  • Higher internet speeds
  • More stable connectivity
  • Lower latency
  • Stronger roaming performance

The next-generation wireless network infrastructure is expected to significantly improve connection quality, especially in terminal areas with high passenger density.

Live Operations Have Started

İGA announced that the Wi-Fi 7 infrastructure has already entered live operation in selected areas.

According to the statement, the system is planned to become fully active across all terminal and operational areas by the end of the year.

With this new infrastructure investment, Istanbul Airport aims to strengthen its global competitiveness in the field of digital passenger experience.
