The unmanned aerial vehicles, smart systems, and fighter jets developed by the Turkish defense industry are gaining significant international interest. Following the export success of the Bayraktar TB2, attention has turned to other projects such as KIZILELMA, ANKA, and KAAN.
KAAN: 5th Generation Fighter Jet
Turkey’s 5th generation fighter jet, KAAN, is being closely monitored, especially by Gulf countries. The National Combat Aircraft KAAN recently completed its second test flight successfully. The Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB) announced that KAAN remained airborne for 14 minutes during this flight, reaching an altitude of 10,000 feet and a speed of 230 knots. This aircraft possesses features that allow it to compete with modern fighter jets like the F-22 and F-35.
Close Examination by Saudi Arabia
New developments continue regarding the KAAN fighter jet. A delegation from the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Defense closely examined the KAAN fighter jet. Turkish Minister of National Defense, Yaşar Güler, announced that an agreement with Pakistan for its participation in the KAAN National Combat Aircraft Program is about to be signed.
International Participation and Interests
Following the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia has also expressed interest in joining the KAAN program. The Saudi Arabian media praised KAAN’s test flights, highlighting the interest. In the coming days, Saudi Arabia is also expected to officially join the program.
