Another alarming case of disruptive passenger behaviour has shaken the skies. A flight departing from Charlotte operated by American Airlines descended into chaos after a male passenger displayed erratic and aggressive behaviour. The incident, which quickly went viral on social media, prompted the airline to remove the passenger from the flight and issue an apology to travellers.
Shortly after takeoff, the man began shouting loudly while clutching a phone charger in his hand. He reportedly acted aggressively toward flight attendants and even attempted to bribe his way into the cockpit. The incident was captured by another passenger and shared online.
Claimed to Be “The Realest Person on the East Coast”
In the now-viral video, the passenger introduces himself as “the realest person on the East Coast.” For about 15 minutes, he ranted about his lost phone, claimed to work for rapper Kodak Black, said he earns $1 million annually, and even promised to get refunds for everyone on board.
During the commotion, he pulled out a bottle of prescription medication and took a pill, also threatening to smoke marijuana on the plane. He further demanded alcohol from the cabin crew in an increasingly aggressive tone.
Threat to Cabin Crew: “Let’s Make a Deal”
At one point, the passenger confronted a female flight attendant. After initially complimenting her, he then insulted her by saying, “I expected better from you.” He went on to threaten her, stating, “You have three seconds before I ruin you,” — a moment captured by fellow passengers.
American Airlines Responds: Passenger Removed, Apologies Issued
In an official statement following the incident, American Airlines apologised for the disruption. The airline said:
“The flight continued as scheduled after departure. We thank our customers for their patience and sincerely apologise for the disturbance. The disruptive passenger has been removed from the aircraft.”
According to other passengers onboard, the flight’s schedule was not significantly affected, though the stressful event reportedly caused discomfort — particularly among families with children and elderly travellers.
Breaking Flight Rules Comes at a Cost
Disruptive passenger incidents have been on the rise in recent years. Airlines are enforcing zero-tolerance policies for behaviour that threatens flight safety, with penalties including fines, blacklisting, and flight bans.
