As snowfall intensified in Istanbul during the evening hours, snow and ice control operations at Sabiha Gökçen International Airport gained momentum. HEAŞ, the Airport Authority of Sabiha Gökçen, continues its on-site operations without interruption to ensure the safe continuation of flight operations.
Covering an area of approximately 3 million square metres, the works include the regular clearing of 2 runways, 8 aprons, 56 taxiways, as well as vehicle service roads and parking areas. The activities carried out against snow and icing are being meticulously conducted by 72 specially equipped vehicles and an experienced team of 125 personnel affiliated with HEAŞ.
Officials stated that all operations are planned with the aim of maintaining flight safety at the highest level and emphasised that snow-fighting efforts will continue uninterrupted depending on weather conditions.
