UK-based aerospace company Vertical Aerospace has announced the successful completion of the first phase of testing for its electric flying taxi, the “VX4 Air-taxi.” The company took a significant step towards future transportation solutions, successfully executing 70 different scenarios in its piloted test flights.
During the testing phase, the VX4 Air-taxi underwent critical performance tests, covering specific flight and ground operations. Vertical Aerospace stated that following the completion of the first phase, the aircraft will now move on to the next stage of testing.
Major Deals and Orders
The company revealed that it has received 1,500 pre-orders for the VX4 Air-taxi from leading airlines, including Virgin Atlantic, American Airlines, and Japan Airlines, with a total value of $6 billion. These orders highlight the commercial potential of the air taxi project and strengthen Vertical Aerospace’s position in the industry.
Flying Taxis Target 2027
Vertical Aerospace aims to secure regulatory approvals for its flying taxis by the end of 2026 and plans to begin flights in 2027. The company’s electric air taxis are set to usher in a new era of urban and short-distance transportation.
