Corendon Dutch Airlines has prepared 17 new cabin crew members joining from Curaçao for duty. The first Curaçao cabin crews will offer passengers a cultural experience on flights between Amsterdam and Curaçao.
Corendon Dutch Airlines has entered a new era in its Curaçao operations, marking a milestone in the company’s history. The 17 new team members joining from Curaçao have completed their training processes and finalized preparations for their official duties as the first Curaçao Cabin Service Officers.
As the new crew members received their “Wings” badges, which have become the symbol of cabin crews, they will officially begin active duty on Amsterdam–Curaçao flights as of May 11.
A new era of “local touch” in the flight experience
With Corendon Dutch Airlines’ new structure, Curaçao-origin cabin crews will serve for the first time on the route between Amsterdam and Curaçao.
Company management believes that the crew members from the island will bring a direct local identity to the flight atmosphere. In this way, the aim is for passengers’ travel experience to begin the moment they step onto the aircraft.
Training was not only about safety
The new cabin crews underwent an intensive training program. Technical operations, safety procedures, service standards, and crew coordination formed the main components of the training.
However, the most remarkable part of the program was the “guest experience” approach, which went beyond traditional cabin crew training.
The company aimed to create a service approach capable of bringing the warmth of Curaçao culture into the cabin environment. The training particularly focused on passenger communication, establishing personal interaction through small details, and reflecting the energy of island culture.

Kelly Otte stated that the project had been planned for a long time and described Curaçao as one of the company’s special destinations.
Otte said that with the participation of crew members from the island, Curaçao’s unique atmosphere would be directly reflected in the cabin environment.
Why did Corendon take this step?
In recent years, leisure airlines have been trying to differentiate themselves not only through price competition but also through passenger experience.
Especially for carriers operating in Caribbean destinations, creating a “sense of place” has become increasingly important in terms of customer loyalty.
Corendon Dutch Airlines’ decision to directly integrate Curaçao cabin crew members into its operations is regarded as one of the strong examples of this strategy.
